ABBREVIATED BIOGRAPHY

Sean Pientak is an Instructor/Specialist with Air Medical Experts LLC, a board-certified Critical Care Flight Paramedic, and a Tactical Paramedic with 19 years of experience in emergency and clinical medicine. He began his medical career as a paid-on-call firefighter, earning his Medical First Responder certification before obtaining his National Registry Paramedic and Michigan State License from Oakland Community College in 2008. He also worked for four years on a private 911 ALS ambulance in Detroit as an EMT-B and then as a paramedic before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he graduated from the Medical Education and Training Campus as a Hospital Corpsman, focusing on combat trauma management and later sub-specializing in wilderness and mountain medicine at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center. He later became a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) instructor, training U.S. military medical and non-medical personnel, as well as partner forces. Upon completing naval service with an honorable discharge, Sean became a full-time firefighter/paramedic, delivering advanced life support and fire protection in a high-call-volume municipality of Metro Detroit, and served on the city and county hazardous materials teams. Sean would soon, however, find himself moving to Springfield, Missouri, with his fiancée, Lynn. He continued working as a paramedic for a high-call-volume hospital-based EMS system before fulfilling a long-time professional endeavor—becoming a flight paramedic. Sean fosters an engaging, informal learning environment that encourages group discussion, aiming to share his expertise and continue learning through the people he meets and the relationships he builds. Outside of work, Sean enjoys outdoor activities, especially playing ball with his pup, Einstein, and has recently rekindled his passion for rock climbing and traveling.
