This course will be online LIVE instruction for the majority of the program. We will have in-person skills training — held in Winchester, VA. All online classes are recorded and students get access to our online portal with videos for the duration of the program — that way, if you miss a day of class — no worries! You can just watch the recordings.

Skills Day 1: April 10, 2025: Ultrasound Course, Hands on Critical Care Equipment Review
Skills Day 2: April 11, 2025: Difficult Airway Cadaver Lab.
Skills Day 3: April 12, 2025: Advanced Critical Care Stations that include hands on application of the ventilator, ultrasound, chest tubes, central lines, IABP, and hemodynamics.
Skills Day 4: April 13, 2025 — Advanced Critical Care Scenarios, putting all topics together to enhance understanding
Review ONLINE LIVE: May 19, 2025 from 0900-1730ET
Computer exam: Sitting for the IBSC FP-C or CCP-C exam will be done at a testing center near your home — you will be able to sign up for the exam and pay for the exam directly with the IBSC. The cost of the exam is not included in your course fee.

In short, this course helps you be a better clinician as well as prepares you to sit for both of the IBSC exams, the FP-C and CCP-C.

In-person skills days - Winchester, VA
Day 1: NEW ADDITION — This will be an in-depth ultrasound course covering the eFAST, RUSH, ONSD, vascular ultrasounds, calculation of ejection fraction, and seeing the organs labeled in real-time with AI via the KOSMOS device. The afternoon of day 1 will be hands on equipment education for ventilators, umbilical lines, arterial lines, the PA catheter, the IABP and SALAD airway placement.
Day 2: Difficult Airway Cadaver Lab* where we focus on all difficult airway assessment tools and advanced treatments, direct and video laryngoscopy, needle decompression, surgical and needle crics, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, extra-glottic airways, RSI, and anatomy and physiology with the dissection of the thoracic organs. *Depending on COVID-19 exposure risk and current state status will determine if the cadaver lab is possible for this course. If we are not able to utilize cadavers, all the same skills will be covered with high fidelity simulators and scenarios that are made to be realistic with the use of scene equipment. As of April 2024, with relaxed CDC regulations we do NOT anticipate this being an issue for upcoming skills day. We will advise students if anything changes and we will abide by all CDC recommendations (including cleaning, distancing, mask usage etc).
Day 3: Skills for IABP, hemodynamics, ventilatory management, pediatric transport, central lines, chest tubes, advanced EKG interpretation, and heart and brain dissection.
Day 4: Scenarios and stations to reinforce important topics include ventilator titration, IABP titration, chest tube and central line placement, ultrasound techniques, lab values and medication review etc.
Review Day: The final ONLINE education day is the INTENSIVE review day, and is the last day of class. From 0900-1730ET the class day is inclusive of all the main course concepts and offers students the final piece to prepare for the exams.
*In-person skills days are optional, however highly recommended. They are not recorded and material cannot be made up if the sessions are missed. This weekend has been reviewed by past students as - integral to putting all course content together.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVE/INTERACTIVE COURSES
Attendance Requirement: We do NOT have an attendance requirement for this course, or to be able to sit for the exam. We strongly recommend 100% attendance, but we also acknowledge everyone has other commitments outside of class. We strongly recommend that if you miss a course day, you need to watch the recorded lecture to obtain the information missed (Prior to the next class day). A key to success is DON’T GET BEHIND! Class recordings will be available through 14 days after the last day of class. These recordings are solely for the use of registered students during the periods of the class session, no exceptions. You are not permitted to download, record, or in any way utilize these recording for any purpose outside of YOUR learning for this program. A course completion certificate will be issued to anyone that completes the full course through LIVE participation with your video active on zoom. Continuing Education hours are given for those attending LIVE online via zoom and during the in-person training. You must have your video ON and be actively participating in the class session in order to earn continuing education hours.
Pre-requisites: A current Paramedic, or Nurse certification is recommended with at least one year of experience. Recommend current certifications in CPR, ACLS, PALS OR PEPP. Please bring a copy of your paramedic certification with you to first day of class. Paramedic certification must be current and in good standing to sit for the FP-C® or CCP-C® exam. Nurses without a Paramedic certification can arrange testing for the CFRN upon completion of the course, on your own. The cost for the course does not differ depending on your certification level.
